“Grandma Estella…I Have a Question”, is not just a children’s book. The goal in writing this book is to teach our children of color about True African History. Although the storyline is fictional, the historical information is True.

We realized the need for a book like this when I heard one of the grandchildren say he knows all about African History because they taught him about slavery in school. True Black History started way before slavery.

Grandma Estella takes her Great-grandchildren on a journey to Egypt. They saw Kings and Queens and distinguished people who looked like them.

“Grandma Estella...I Have a question”, the first book of a series.

It explores who Imhotep was and his contributions to the world. Have you ever heard of him? In this book, Grandma Estella Time traveled back in time with her grandchildren where they saw Imhotep. He was known as the True God of Medicine.

We decided to write this children’s book as a tribute to our mom/Grandma Estella. It was important to her for her grandchildren/great-grandchildren to love and understand who they are.

Estella’s grandchildren/great-grandchildren consist of a variety of different complexions. There were many conversations held after one of the grandchildren asked, why do I look like this? The answer was always “Because God made you like that!”

Estella’s Legacy books will build Self-esteem and Self-worth in our children by educating them about our True History.
